For almost as long as Faema Canada has been around, Faema’s espresso beans has been one of their key products at the heart of their business. Keeping their line palate-friendly and at only three options, simplifies the process and makes their coffee approachable. These balanced blends have a mild to moderate acidity, mild body and has a clean aftertaste.  This makes it a favourite as a straight espresso, or as a milk-based drink, like a cappuccino or latte. While coffee can be a matter of personal preference, for the espresso elites among us, the coffee is optimally extracted at 8.5 grams per dose for 25 seconds at about 95 degrees celsius.

Their iconic, black-packaged, 1 KG trio - Tradizionale, Intenso and Senza - represent their traditional, full-flavoured and decaf styles for both baristas and your everyday espresso drinker. But, besides Faema’s coffee being the sensible choice, the beans also come from a place of quality, mastery and of course, hot countries. At the back of each bag, there’s a description of it’s origins, but what does it look like from the bean’s perspective?

Coffee beans are grown in different regions because like wine appellations, their terroir grants the beans their distinctive flavour profiles, according to sun, rain, temperature, soil, elevation and other environmental factors.

Faema Canada is partnered with Brazilian Canadian Coffee Co, who advises and oversees the production to packaging of their beans. The beginning of the coffee journey starts with choosing the right regions and the right growers. These hand-selected farmers cultivate the coffee plants until the ripe, red coffee cherries are ready for harvesting and produced into coffee beans. This entire process can be sourced back to the each estate involved. This is in contrast to the common practice of companies choosing from a mix of different farmer's coffee cherries.

With Brazilian Canadian Coffee Co, a premium is paid to ensure the quality is high and that the grower is compensated properly, in order to maintain proper farming practices.

The raw beans are then transported Toronto where they are roasted. Some of the advantages of roasting locally are distance and easy access.  Having such close ties to Faema Canada, Brazilian Canadian Coffee Co are able to roast and package beans, quickly and conveniently. Yet, one of the best advantages is also lower transportation costs, which means not only fresher coffee, but a lower cost to the customer! Bonus!
